Another Reason I’m an Independent

I’m sure this discussion will be lots of fun when it transfers over to our crowd.

So Kid Rock is good enough to entertain our troops, he’s good enough to raise money and awareness, but he’s not good enough for the inauguration.

Great move. Make damn good and sure that any younger forlks and social liberals who voted for the President get the message, “Thanks folks, glad you supported us, now please excuse us while we turn our backs on you and get back to making the country all the same.”

As for Malkin…I knew she was conservative…I forgave a lot because of her wicked sense of humor, but I didn’t know she was a member of the thought and morals police.

“Freedom begins when you tell Mrs. Grundy to “Go fly a kite.”" R.A. Heinlein

Ms Malkin, your kite Ma’am.

Via Goldstein who’s got more.

Michele’s not thrilled either.

  1. I’m sorry, I have to disagree. Kid Rock offends and degrades the majority, if not all, of the female population with his “freedom of expression lyrics.” I truly think there is someone much better than Kid Rock to bring in the “pop” culture aspect of the population.

  2. There shouldn’t be any surprise here. The Republicans are your Grandfather’s party and when you ride with Republicans, you ride with Pat Boone.

All ideomonkeys are members of the thought and morals police. Their job is to tell you what to think politically, but why stop there? They get off on telling people what to think about everything. Just because the delivery agent is humor and sarcasm instead of pounding on podiums and yelling doesn’t change the intent.

That being said, coolness really doesn’t belong in politics. I wouldn’t expect Kid Rock to perform at a political function any more that I’d expect him to show-up at a Dungeons & Dragons gathering.

  3. Now I’m not a fan of Kid Rock’s music, though I don’t hate it, but I also disagree with him being taken out of the Inaugural festivities. It would do the Republicans good to have someone like him. Most of his “peers” are liberals, and to me it would be a wake up call to the Democrats who got their panties all in a wad over “Jesusland.”

  4. It may be the persons age, it may be the ruined ears, it may just be that Kid Rocks sounds like two hyenas havin’ sex on a hot plate.
I listened to a Kid rock tape, the one with Cheryl Crow on it, one song was very, very good. the rest? Hyenas doing it.
Sorry! I’m an old guy, what can I say ;^D

  5. I like some of Kid Rocks music and he is very talented but I can’t understand why he has to use some of the language and inuendo in his songs. There is plenty of great music out there without these offbeat lyrics. These rappers can hardly make a song any more without using the F word or I want to hump you. It is even getting some into music with no talent at all (AKS Orange Bowl)? Just a question of when will you make the choice to say enough is enough. Kid Rock has te ability to do a lot better.

  6. wasn’t kid rock the guy who desecrated the american flag by wearing it as a poncho last year?

anyway, i stopped reading michelle malking after she advocated terrorism as a tactic.

  7. Ok, now a comment from the younger generation. I like Kid Rock’s music. No, I wouldn’t say most of his lyrics outloud to any female, however if someone is “conservative” that doesn’t mean we all go to church every single time the doors open, listen to nothing but Amy Grant and Michael W. Smith, and refuse to see anything other than G rated movies.

Conservatives are just a varied as liberals are, and should be such. Kid Rock apparently supports the President. Are those like Michelle Malkin saying that they would rather not have Kid supporting the President? That they would rather lose than have people like him supporting their man?

    Didn’t think so.

  8. Pie, ya need to read the Goldstein Post I linked…talks about the difference between an ally and a co-belligerent. Which is just plain weird in my mind.

  9. I predicted this over a year ago. In a piece first published at Winds of Change.

What I said was that the Dems would destroy themselves before the election. The Republicans would wait until after the election.

    So far I’m on track.

BTW the reasons I predicted were - socialism and the war for the Dems - the culture war for the Rs.

Seems like I’m right on track.

Train wrecks are so stupid when they are so clear so far in advance.

I think what this means is that a re-alignment is in order.

  11. I guess I’m naive, but I’d expect an inauguration and the associated events to be dignified. I like Kid Rock just fine, but I wouldn’t expect him to play at the inauguration.

Personally, I’m not swayed or impressed by the way a political party celebrates. I’m more interested in policies and performance. I guess other people are more interested in what music they listen to.

  12. If anyone had read the links I put in they’d have seen that the inauguration event KR is/was scheduled for was a youth party that Jenna and Barbara are hosting.

I would guess that the Kid wouldn’t rattle off a large load of profanities at this event. Yes…he’s known to be wild, but he’s been under the influence of Bocephus for the past couple years and I think the lad may be learning the difference between appropriate and inappropriate behavior.

But that would mean that people could change, that redemption might be real and Lord knows that never happens.

Not just Mrs. Grundy’s children but ignorant Mrs. Grundy’s children.

  13. Perhaps Bush is just learning from Tony Blair. His cosying up with Oasis and other “Cool Britannia” (God, I hated that phrase) types came back to haunt him when it became obvious to everyone that he wasn’t a Labour prime minister, he was a Diet Conservative. Needless to say, the people with the best forum to have a go at him when he veered right were those he was so keen to cultivate in the first place.

Now, I don’t think anyone’s in any doubt about what they were going to get by voting for Bush, so you’re not going to get Kid Rock musing over the wisdom of invading Iraq or tanking the deficit, but it’s not unrealistic to suppose that someone from a younger generation is going to be opposed to an old-school Republican on something like abortion rights (for example).
