Funny thing, Al - she was never telling people how to behave in their private lives with the intention of condeming them if they make mistakes.

Yes, she's for abstinence. And family values (oh, the horrors of THAT!) - and when her daughter got pregnant, what did she do?

Did she stone her? Disown her? Toss her out and tell her she had to marry whoever knocked her up? Or did she go "You made a mistake, we'll deal with it, and love the child when it comes"?

Seems to me she's a hell of a lot more tolerant than most 'leftists', who have every intention of letting you do what you want - as long as it's what THEY want you to do in the first place.

As such - if it comes to it again, I'd vote for her in a heartbeat over the current occupant of the White House. She, at least, has an idea about real life management of complex issues and governance, whereas Obama seems to be heavily steeped in certain theories that don't seem to be proving so applicable...

Your mileage, of course, may vary on that.

I think the issue is that Sarah Palin chose to preach to other people about family values, abstinence and all the rest of it, so when the revelation came to her that real people make real mistakes, well, she had this coming. She wasn't "tending her garden" or running the PTA, she was on national TV telling 300 million people that she was qualified to run the country and tell them how to behave in their private lives. Thankfully, for much the same reason I don't let my kid play with mains electricity, the American people didn't fancy her anywhere near a position where she might have to apply logic or judgement.

She shouldn't worry, though. I would imagine it's Sen. John Ensign's turn anytime now.
