Regarding Flooding in the Midwest with comparison to New Orleans.
Where are all of the Hollywood celebrities holding telethons asking for help in restoring Iowa and helping the folks affected by the floods?
Where is all the media asking the tough questions about why the federal government hasn’t solved the problem? Asking where the FEMA trucks (and trailers) are?
Why isn’t the Federal Government relocating Iowa people to free hotels in Chicago, houston, Dallas etc.?
When will Spike Lee say that the Federal Government blew up the levees that failed in Des Moines?
Where are Sean Penn and the Dixie Chicks?
Where are all the looters stealing high-end tennis shoes and big screen television sets?
When will we hear Governor Chet Culver say that he wants to rebuild a “vanilla” Iowa, because that’s the way God wants it?
Where is the hysterical 24/7 media coverage complete with reports of cannibalism?
Where are the people declaring that George Bush hates white, rural people?
How come in 2 weeks, you will never hear about the Iowa flooding ever again?

I almost posted this yesterday when I got it in an email. You do have to wonder don’t you?

All comments about it would be politically INcorrect and cause the hucksters to lament to to the fawning press about “baiting” and “*ism”.
Its a different mentality in Iowa as opposed to victimhood in the other instance………

I happen to live in St. Louis. Funny how when a disaster of epic proportions hits here, local fire, police and political leadership just ask for help. People show up in busloads to sandbag, help protect homes and get locals and their property to higher ground. I have yet to hear anyone ask, “Where is Pres. Bush, FEMA or anything.” National Guard is here and doing a wonderful job. FEMA is here and are signing checks and letting the locals handle it. It is a beautiful thing.
Now, if someone needs a little water… We got craploads. Come get what you want.

Joe, I can’t tell you how much I wish we could somehow shift that water down to the TN/NC/SC/GA/AL area. We’re still in a drought, although this year hasn’t been as bad as last.

America of past was a rural land. Most people lived in small towns or on farms. They learned to help themselves and their neighbors. The Midwest still has this American spirit. Today the USA is increasingly urban. More and more live in large cities, such as New Orleans. People no longer help their neighbors, or even themselves. They expect someone else to do thing for them.
In the Midwest they see what needs to be done, and they do it. In New Orleans they saw what needed to be done and ask why someone else had not already done it for them. As terrible as the floods are, I see a silver lining. They are showing the country that the American Spirit lives on.
