California became a state!!
The people had no electricity…
The state government had no money…
Nearly everyone spoke Spanish…
And there were often gunfights in the streets.
So, basically nothing has changed. Except that the women had real tits and the men didn’t hold hands.

The state of California in 1850 had plenty of money - California was awash in the revenues of the Gold Rush.
By 1850, the Spanish-speaking Californios were vastly outnumbered by English speaking Forty-Niners. That’s why California went directly to statehood.
And I know what Victor David Hanson says about “Mexifornia”, but I don’t think even now a majority of Californians speak Spanish.
However, the last sentence is spot on.
