		<description>It went pretty well - about 5,000 people, which for South Texas in July, in the outdoors, is pretty damned good.

We thought the Governor would just swing in, do his bit and then be gone again (sort of &quot;wham-bam-thank-you-ma&#039;am) but he stayed for about three hours. 

I have to admit, not knowing much about his politics and his record - and that this is Texas, where all we ask of our politicians that they not be a national &amp;#!king embarrassment - he seems to be a very gregarious and charming man, quite low-key and approachable. He had one aide, and one body-guard that I could see, and once the crowd thinned out at the VIP dinner, he bopped around talking casually to people. He was actually very amusing to talk to. I didn&#039;t know that he had been in the Air Force also, as a transport pilot.</description>
