This Hollywood bigshot’s name was unknown outside the business until columnist Sidney Skolsky linked him with Katharine Hepburn in 1934.

Who was Howard Hughes?

Incorrect.
While Hughes was romantically linked with Hepburn (as well as several other starlets) around that time, as majority shareholder of Hughes Tool Company, and the Director of several films, including Hell’s Angels the biggest film of 1930 (IIRC), Hughes was quite well known.
Actually, while he was always rather shy, he didn’t become a psychotic recluse until the ’50s. Many believe this was a result of his crash of the XF-11 in 1946.

Kate carried on a lighthearted romance with agent Leland Hayward for four years, but when she wouldn’t marry him, he wed actress Margaret Sullavan.
Took some digging but this the one ya wanted?

Ok I offically feel Foolish but heres the correct answer after the goof I posted above
It’s not clear how the Academy Awards statuette is called Oscar. A popular story has been that Academy librarian and eventual executive director Margaret Herrick said that it resembled her uncle, Oscar. A reporter allegedly overheard her and helped brand the golden guy. In any case, by the sixth Awards Presentation in 1934, Hollywood columnist Sidney Skolsky used the name in his column in reference to Katharine Hepburn’s first Best Actress win. The Academy itself didn’t use the nickname officially until 1939.
Again it took some looking but here ya go.

Correct.
In the past, I’ve discouraged people from researching for the response. But when a few days have gone by, and it seems everyone’s stumped, I guesss that’s another matter.
