MSM v. Palin

Looks like the cartoonist should have added another wolf named “Air America.” Or maybe a coyote/jackal would have been a better critter choice for that.

h/t Baldilocks for the cartoon, Hot Air for the additional wolf name.

  1. Sadly, anyone who’s willing to put themselves out for public service has to be prepared for this, on both the right and the left. No wonder the quality of available candidates has gone straight downhill.

If you can tell me the last time a paper of record, corporate news organization, or a standard issue monthly magazine (Atlantic I’m looking at you) allowed attacks like those visited on Governor Palin, I’d appreciate it.

By the way, Babs - cute kids!

What a short memory you have. I seem to recall John Kerry getting all manner of crap 4 years ago.

The only comfort I take from 2004 is that it proved that being a war hero has been a sure-fire way to lose a US election for the last 16 years (Bush I, Dole, Kerry). Only difference this time is that Obama didn’t bottle a draft, he just never joined up.

No, I remember that. What I don’t remember is how the gibes at Kerry were in any way equal to ..

Andrew Sullivan using the offices of The Atlantic to question if Teresa Kerry faked a pregnancy.

ABC News editing a video interviews to make Kerry sound like a war-mongering ignorant hick.

The Press (many examples) of selectively quoting and editing what Kerry said so what was published contradicts what he actually said.

  5. Mmm… John Kerry got a ration of crap over his established record in the public eye for the last thirty years. Extra lumps for trying to campaign on his record of military service, when the next thing he had done after his Vietnam tour was to become prominent as an anti-war protestor and for accusing other Vietnam veterans of committing all sorts of atrocities.
    The irony couldn’t be ignored.

Now the funny thing about Palin being pilloried in the MSM, and by our political, intellectual and entertainment elites - is that it all came up in the last two weeks! And most of what she is being accused of having done (creationsim in schools, faking a pregnancy,book-banning, rabid-foaming Christianist)… is exaggerated, twisted or just flat-out woven out of whole cloth.

I mean, whole legions of our betters, foaming at the mouth, over a nice, energetic lady of certain age, who has a an established record of local public service and a very high popularity rating in the state she is governer of… really, one has to wonder just what the &$#k is going on with our very own dear media elites. Are they so far into the tank for Obama that they will literally do anything, say anything, edit the hell out of TV interviews, dig for scandal like a dog looking for a lost bone, and pass on any sort of sick and fantastical bit of gossip?
