On a scale from 0 to 20 points, where 20 signifies full engagement with mainstream American culture and 0 signifies deep cultural isolation within the new upper class bubble, you scored between 13 and 16.

In other words, you don’t even have a bubble.

  1. Apparently I broke it. It just keeps spinning and spinning and spinning.

  2. I didn’t think much of it.

The premise is false. Non-engagement with “mass culture” doesn’t mean isolation in “elite culture”. Also, as an urbanite, I don’t hunt, fish, or own a pickup. I’ve never been married. (My sister drives a Blazer – does that count?) NASCAR? Not my things. I follow baseball, mainly, and football, and basketball a bit.

A lot of middle Americans don’t drink. I don’t eat out much, but I like Outback Steakhouse – except there isn’t one anywhere nearby. I’m more likely to get a gyros at the corner sandwich store.

I don’t think Kiwanis and Rotary are representative of “mass” America any more. Kiwanis has all of 260,000 members; Rotary 1.2M worldwide. Unions halls aren’t what they were either.

    “Oprah”? I’m a guy.

    “C” students? I’m a nerd, always was.

Cigarettes? No, but sometimes cigar smokers.
