		<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Looking back on it, I think the most interesting part of my reaction is the lack of real surprise. Shock, yes, and a complete acceptance of the horror, but within an hour of getting the news (by word of mouth; I was on my way to work when I heard and did my full shift before getting anywhere near a broadcast), I&#8217;d thought through many of the implications and tried to discuss them with my co-workers— many of whom were still in the schocked denial phase, unable to believe what was happening.</p>
<p>I didn&#8217;t have any idea what was going to happen, or that it would— and yet, for some reason, I was not surprised. Nor particularly scared, for that matter. The only thing I can think is that as long as I can remember, I have known that there is evil in the world, so September 11th was just a chance for it to show its face a little more clearly.</p>
<p>Vaya con Dios, you whose lives we commemorate. Walk with God.</p>
