Thanks, Alex for the exact translation!
Yep... while we can contemplate submission to god as perhaps a good thing, depending upon ones religious proclivities, submission to those earthly representatives is somewhat of a sticking point.
I look at some of those "earthly representatives" of religious authority in the Moslem world and think,
"yep... when hell f**king freezes over!"

"Religion of Peace" is an inaccurate translation. The word "Islam" derives from the Arabic 'aslama, which means "to surrender, resign oneself." Thus, a better translation is "Religion of Submission", as in submission to God -- and his Earthly representatives, of course. Now submission is a peace of sorts, but it's not what we Westerners generally think of when we say the word.

I've noticed any more it's the ones who scream loudest about racism in others who have the most to gain. I'm thinking of Sharpton and Jackson, in particular...

It's basically an attempt to use shame to influence others, and get what they want without any interference.

As far as the Religion of 'Peace' goes - I bought it at first after 9/11 - but the more I'm seeing of it the less I'm appreciating the subtle distinctions within a religion of 'Peace' that encourages the various sects to slaughter one another wholesale. It's like Baptists, Catholics, and Methodists taking up arms against each other - for all the current complaints about Christianity, at least THAT sort of fraternal infighting isn't a constant - yet it is within in the Muslim world and it's tacitly ignored by the media at large.

So at this point I'm pretty disabused of the notion that Islam is a religion of 'Peace'. There's a lot of folks within it willing to live and let live, and I've worked with a bunch of them - but there's also some murderous bastards and the attempts by those who know better in the West to minimize their existance makes no sense to me... especially seeing as their heads would be first on the chopping block if through some mischance the radical branches of Islam would gain control.

And like you, I think a lot of folks are getting really tired of being labeled 'racist' whenever someone points out that radical Islam is the spark for theise incidents, and it's not going to be much longer before there's going to be significant blowback.
